Why Asthi?

अस्थि 'Asthi' (Bones)

Hi, I'm Steph, I am a nutritional therapist, yoga teacher and the creator of Asthi. Asthi is the culmination of years of self-discovery and a deep passion for health and wellness. My journey began with a personal quest for holistic healing, driven by a desire to nourish my body.

Through extensive research and countless hours in the kitchen, I discovered the incredible benefits of bone broth. Its rich history and unmatched nutritional value resonated with my commitment to natural wellness. I realised that creating a high-quality, delicious bone broth could help others on their path to better health, just as it had helped me.

Asthi was born from this realisation, named after the Sanskrit word for 'bone,' symbolising the foundation of strength and vitality. Asthi bone broth is created with the finest, ethically-sourced ingredients, slow-simmered to extract maximum nutrients and flavour.

Each batch is a labour of love, dedicated to supporting your well-being and enhancing your recipes.

The four non-negotiables:

1. Your broth will always come in a glass jar. Glass is non-reactive, meaning it does not leach harmful chemicals into the broth, which can happen with plastic containers. This preserves the broth's purity and flavour. Additionally, glass is fully recyclable and reusable, making it a sustainable packaging choice that reduces plastic waste and aligns with our eco-friendly values. Bring yours back for 50p off your next order.

2. Your broth will always be made with spring water. Water is a critical ingredient in broth, and using spring water ensures that the broth is free from harmful contaminants, chlorine, or other chemicals often found in tap water. Spring water, which is naturally filtered through rock and soil, is mineral-rich and adds purity to the broth giving it a soft texture.

3. Your broth will always have bones sourced from 100% grass-fed, pasture reared or wild animals from local Sussex farms. The source of the bones is critical to the nutritional profile of the broth. Grass-fed and pasture-reared animals produce bones that are higher in beneficial nutrients like collagen, amino acids, and healthy fats compared to conventionally farmed animals. By sourcing bones from Sussex farms, we are supporting local agriculture, reducing our carbon footprint, and ensuring that the animals are raised humanely in natural environments. This non-negotiable not only assures quality but also reflects a commitment to ethical practices, animal welfare, and sustainability.

4. Your broth will always have fresh ingredients sourced from local farms that prioritise the health of their land, animals and our planet. These practices ensure the broth is free from pesticides, GMOs, and synthetic fertilisers. This also enables us to reduce our environmental impact from long-distance transportation, and guarantying fresher ingredients. We hope by doing this we will maintain a connection to the land by respecting natural growing cycles, which results in a broth that is both better for the planet and more flavourful.
